Primstaven is a unique meeting place in the heart of Straumen, Inderøy, along the Golden Road. Here, a bookshop, antiquarian and cultural venue come together – a treasure trove for literature, music and memorable experiences.
You’ll find us centrally located in Straumen, just behind Coop Extra and Shell. On the second floor, our spacious premises are filled with exciting books in every category.

Bookshop and Antiquary

Primstaven Inderøy is not only an independent bookshop but also an antiquarian. This means you can buy all the latest titles on the market as well as a rich selection of old and rare books. Drop by for the book you’re looking for, or browse the shelves in search of a hidden gem.

Categories include health and lifestyle, hobbies, philosophy, religion, music and art.

In addition to books, we offer beautiful literary posters, elegant notebooks, crystals and a growing collection of LP records for vinyl enthusiasts.

Culture Pub and Events

Primstaven is renowned for its live stage hosting concerts, talks and events. The atmosphere is truly special – music and culture surrounded by books. Both Norwegian and international artists have performed here, and we regularly organise themed evenings and private parties. It’s also possible to hire the venue for meetings or events, with space for up to 70 people and catering options available.

Open Pub

Every Saturday we host our Saturday Pub, and on other occasions in connection with concerts and special events. This makes Primstaven a social hub with a relaxed and creative vibe.

What does the name Primstaven mean
A primstav is the ancient Norwegian calendar stick. These were engraved with images instead of runes. The images depicted the different nonmoving religious holidays.The oldest primstav still in existence is from 1457 and is exhibited at Norsk Folkemuseum.
