Salmon Fishing in the Verdalselva River
In Vuku, the rivers Inna and Helgåa converge to form the Verdalselva River. It flows through the town of Verdal and into the Trondheimsfjorden at the Ørin Nature Reserve. The river alternates between waterfalls and deep pools with sections of calm and steady currents. Fishing permits can be purchased at inatur.no.
Freshwater Fishing / Trout
Verdal boasts beautiful natural surroundings, with 20% of the municipality lying within the Blåfjella – Skjækerfjella National Park. You can fish close to the town or venture far into the mountains, where you'll encounter fewer people. In the state commons (statsallmenninger) in Verdal, fishing is allowed in all lakes and ponds, whether using a fishing rod, nets, or ice fishing equipment. In some places, you can even use fishing nets.
Drivsjøen North and South are excellent trout waters, but they are primarily for rod fishing. The journey to these spots is around 4-6 km on foot, but the experience is well worth it. If you plan to stay overnight, camping is the option.
Fishing Permits
Værdalsbruket AS and Verdal Fjellsyre offer a joint fishing permit called "Verdalskortet." Purchasing this permit allows you to fish in all lakes and waterways on Statskog and Værdalsbruket properties, covering approximately 70-80% of Verdal municipality's area. The permit grants permission for fishing with a rod, nets, ice fishing, and, in specific lakes, the use of fishing nets. There are lakes with pure trout, as well as lakes with trout/arctic char and trout/burbot combinations. If you wish to fish in a river, you can do so in Helgåa above Kløftåtfossen and in Inna above Dillfossen.

Annual permit: NOK 500 (valid for one year from the date of purchase)
Youth aged 16 and 17 receive half-price permits, and children fish for free. You can purchase the fishing permit here.
Lake Veresvannet
You can also purchase a fishing permit for the Veres terrain, which surrounds Lake Veresvannet, and the area offers many great fishing waters. For Veresvatnet, you can also borrow a boat at Sveet.
Fishing permits can be purchased via Vipps number 964829 (the Vipps shop for Vera Fiskestellsområde). If you don’t have access to Vipps, you can contact any of the farms in the Veres area to buy a fishing permit.
The Veres area is a defined geographical region where local landowners have fishing and small game hunting rights.
Accommodation
Several rental cabins provided by Værdalsbruket AS and Verdal Fjellstyre are located near excellent fishing lakes, and many have boats available. Kråksjøen, Sulsjøan, Bellingstjønnin (Lakadalen – Vera), and Fiskløsingen (Vera) are some recommended options.
Fishing in Leksdalsvatnet
Leksdalsvannet is a great trout and arctic char lake. Boats are available for rent at various locations, and you can fish with nets, traps, or fishing rods.
